1974 – Morgan
State University Choir’s first international tour to
Helsinki, London, Copenhagen and Leningrad at the request
of conductor Paul Freeman. Choir performs with the Helsinki
Philharmonic.
1977 – Choir performs at Carnegie Hall with the New York
Philharmonic performing works of Black Composers
1990 – USIA tour of Eastern Africa – Rwanda, Tanzania,
Kenya, Mauritius, and Madagascar
1992 – Choir performs for the 1992 International Beethoven
Festival in Bonn, Germany.
1993 – Premiere of Too Hot to
Handle with Marin
Alsop and the Concordia Symphony Orchestra in Alice Tully
Hall at Lincoln Center.
1994 - Canary Islands – choir performs Porgy and Bess with
Paul Freeman and the Chicago Sinfionetta.
1995 – Choir records Hanibal Peterson’s African
Portraits with Chicago
Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Daniel Barenboim
March 1995 –Choir performs John Corrigiliano’s Poem on His
Birthday at Carnegie Hall with the American Composers
Orchestra
1995 – Choir sings with Kathleen Battle on rededication of
Kennedy Center Concert Hall
1996 – MPT, Emmy Award Winning Silver Anniversary taped and
aired celebrating 25 years of Nathan Carter at the helm of
the Morgan State University Choir
1997 – Porgy & Bess, Paul Freeman Germany – Chicago

1997 - “Too Hot to Handel” premieres in Carnegie Hall with
Marin Alsop and the Concordia Orchestra
SUMMER 1998 – PBS special Glorious Gospel in Performance at
the White House, hosted by Ce-CE Winans
Summer 2000 – Choir’s first four of Prague – performing
Porgy and Bess with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.
1999-2000 Season – performed a premiere of Wynton Marsalis
“All Rise” with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and
Kurt Mazur
Summer 2003 – Choir returns to Czech Republic for a 3-week
tour.
2003 – Recorded All-Rise in Paris with Wynton Marsalis and
Lincoln Center Jazz Ensemble.
January 2004 – performed Porgy and Bess with Yuri
Temirkanov in the St. Petersburg Winter Festival
2004 – Named “America’s Best College Choir in America” by
Reader’s Digest Magazine
January 2005 – Choir sings Mendelssohn’s Symphony #2 with
Baltimore Symphony Orchestra
February 2005 – Choir sings at National ceremony in the
Capitol Rotunda celebrating the life of Civil Rights
matriarch, Rosa Parks
February 2006 – Choir Sings for Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice for the US State Department’s African
American History Month Celebration
March 2006 – Choir sings perform in New Orleans for special
benefit concert for victims of Katrina
May 2006 - Choir performs at Kennedy Center for Mary Lou
Williams Jazz Festival with Billy Taylor and Dave Brubeck
Summer 2006 – Choir performs in Prague, Czech Republic with
the Czech National Symphony Orchestra
March 2007 – Perform at University of Virgin Islands, St.
Croix and Tortola
June 2007 – Choir performs in Ghana at the invitation of
Pamela Bridgewater for the country’s 50 anniversary of
their independence
April 2008 – Choir performs Faure Requiem with Orchestra
under the direction of Booby McFerrin
October 2008 – the choir performs in Carnegie Hall and
Kennedy Center with Marin Alsop and the Baltimore Symphony
Orchestra performing Leonard Bernstein’s Mass. These
performances were recorded and nominated for a Grammy Award
for Best Classical Album.
July 2009 – Choir tours South Africa and sings for Nelson
Mandela on National Television Station
May 2010 – performs with Kathleen and Battle and the
Baltimore Symphony Orchestra
June 2010 – Choir tours China, including Beijing, Tiajin,
Xi’an, and Shanghai. Choir performs at 2010 Shanghai World
Expo
July 2010 – Choir performs in Medellin, Colombia
October 2010 – Choir performs for International Festival in
St. Petersburg, Russia
